Introduction
Unveiling "Rune”- passion project born out of my enduring love for the MMORPG, RuneScape. For over 15 years, this game has held a special place in my heart, evolving alongside its dedicated fanbase. As the game transformed into a new era, I couldn't help but reimagine its design elements, injecting fresh life into familiar landscapes. Join me on a journey where nostalgia meets innovation, as I breathe new vitality into the realms of RuneScape for players who have grown with the game, shaping their preferences and priorities along the way
OSRS fans are reeeeeaally serious about keeping the game feeling “Old-school”
The existence of an OSRS version of RuneScape can be attributed to a critical update in 2012, known as "The Evolution of Combat," which caused 60% of the player base to quit the game. Understanding this challenge, I embarked on my journey of making changes to the game.
To gather inspiration for my case study, I turned to the OSRS subreddit, where the vibrant community of players congregates, sharing interface design ideas and experiences.
I quickly found that the Interface design of OSRS although nostalgic.... is universally hated.

Goal
Introducing Enhanced User Interface Designs and Captivating Animation Concepts, Channeling the True Spirit of OSRS
Unlocking a Seamless User Experience by Revitalizing Outdated Elements. Despite the game's enduring legacy, several aspects have been left unchanged, including the clunky UI and outdated animations. My mission is to challenge the player base's perspective and introduce smoother, modern user experiences while staying true to the essence of Oldschool RuneScape.

User Feedback

After creating my case study I sought out to get feedback on my design/animations. first I returned to the OSRS subreddit to get feedback.
I created a post on the subreddit showcasing my creation.
overall the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The post received over 30 thousand views and received a few awards.

with all the feedback and research I realized these additions I created in my case-study were a huge success. I have forwarded these designs to the devs of the game to see if they could potentially be added to the live game.
